Blackest Night: Flash #3 PREVIEW (click the link) Writer: Geoff Johns Artist: Scott Kolins Looks pretty good IMO. Though, like in the previous issues of the mini, I'm curious as to when Owen suddenly could run at great speeds, because originally, his speed was described as "small bursts" that he could use to throw the boomerangs at super speed with. Hopefully we'll get a satisfactory ending to the mini.

Favorite issue of the mini IMO. Really liked some parts and not so much others though. Seeing a glimpse of Rebirth Thawne was cool, freein Bart was pretty awesome, but I would have liked to see more of the dead Rogues. Oh well. I take it that Thawne will be ressurected along with people like Aquaman in the end of Blackest Night and that's how he winds up in Rebirth.

I thought this was a big improvement over last issue, especially the Barry, Wally and Bart thread. I also really liked the way Scott Kolins used visual parallels, both within this issue and echoing images from earlier in the miniseries. As or the Boomerang story...I thought it worked well *on its own* as a chillingly effective portrayal of someone lost and desperate turning down the wrong path and letting himself be manipulated and falling into darkness (kind of a Tales of the Black Freighter story). In the long run, though, I think it damages the character. Now if only the story actually had a conclusion and not a big "To be continued in..." sign at the end. Here's my full review at Speed Force.

I wanted more of the dead Rogues too. The issue was pretty good, although the stuff with Owen came out of left field and doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I fear it's damaged the character, although I guess we'll see where Johns goes with it.

I fear it's damaged the character, although I guess we'll see where Johns goes with it. I'm a bit sad by his turn but I honestly saw it coming. We saw in the past (especially during Johns' run) that Owen was only a Rogue due to wanting to find/avenge his father. He's been so desperate to have his father, that I could see him doing ANYTHING if he thought it would get him back. Was sad to see him go though. Hopefully, he'll be ressurrected by the end of this.

I'm sure he will be back by the end of Blackest Night, but it's hard to figure out where he'll go from here. Feeding kids to zombies is pretty bad. Probably no one would have cared if he'd just stuck to sex offenders...though I guess there's a limited pool of those.

Writing was good except for when Black Lantern Bart said Wally wanted to be Kid Flash again?
why in this miniseries was Barry colored all blue and in other BN books half-blue and half-black?
