A few thoughts on the covers of Rebirth...
I know everyone has given nothing but praise for these covers but I'm a little iffy.
First off - major points go to EVS for the larger than life presence of "red n' yellow" on all of the covers so far. It's even cool that the covers to #2 and #3 pay homage to classic themes. The first issue cover almost feels as if Flash has been given a "Terminator moment" where he arrives from another time in a folded pose surrounded by streaks of lightning...
But Barry Allen was never as "thick" as Schwartzenegger. Either Barry's been doing serious training in the speedforce weightroom or A-Rod's supplier is an inter-dimensional traveller.
...and that lightning hasn't stopped. I know that Flash streaks have long doubled as lightning trails left behind him, but this new trend just looks like a tangled mess that distracts from the simple elegant design of the costume. It looks more like Flash has some new electricity based powers than what the lightning trails originally did to suggest motion.
I think the interior previews were fantastic but am I insane crazy on those covers?

For the thickness, its just a sign of the times. He won't be Superman, but he'll look like Batman. I too would rather see him down a bit, more so like Hal Jordan but its not totally putting me off.
The electricity thing..it seems that its going to be one of those "Look at me, dont I look cool" things that Ethan is doing to amp up Barry. They were also seen during Blackest Night #0 and that was drawn by Ivan Reis. So, sorry to say, but we're probably going to have to deal with it...

Yeah, nearly every male character seems to be bulked up these days, whether it's appropriate or not. It's not a trend I like.

The lightning is reminiscent of what Ethan did with the GLs' symbol shinging thing. I don't mind it honestly.

Im sort of liking the covers so far but, and Im pretty sure its the colour (I wan some MOOSE), something seems off. As fpr the lightning thing, Im thinking its probably just design but, it might be somehting to do with Barry now being connected to the Speed Force somehow different than others? Am I looking to far into this?

Yeah, it almost appears as though they're using 60's comic book swatch of colors. Superman has a pastel blue going.
