DC is introducing a (somewhat) new format, the "co-feature." It's a $3.99 book with a full-length lead story and a backup (not sure how long, but I'm guessing either 12 or 16 pages, since 22+16 would be close to the 40-page format used in Final Crisis and its tie-ins). The new Doom Patrol book will have a Metal Men backup, and Booster Gold and Teen Titans are getting Blue Beetle and Ravager backups. Now, I've been vocal about not being happy that we're losing an ongoing Wally West series. I've suggested launching a second book modeled on Green Lantern Corps, maybe bringing back the All-Flash title and rotating through Wally, Bart and Jay (with the occasional future or alternate reality Flash thrown in), but it's not clear whether the market will bear that. But how about a co-feature Flash book, with Barry in the lead and Wally (or a rotating cast) as backup? I'd be thrilled! No complaints whatsoever (as long as the stories are good, anyway). What do you think?

Of course I would much rather have a second book, but the idea of a backup doesn't disgust me. I would rather have a different writer than Johns to do this, just to have a completely separate style. Give it a style of a Green Lantern Corps, where it focuses on Wally, but also features Bart/Jay(hopefully alive) and keep it fresh. If Geoff has a big "event" like idea for the title, then the two writers could easily connect the two.
But if Geoff doesn't need Wally,Jay, and Bart to be in his story at the moment, then the back up would partially fill that void for us, and not have to worry about what's taking place pages before.
All in all, a good idea that I definitely support, but not as much as a second book. I'll pay another $3 for All Flash and 20+ pages than $1 for 15.

It would definitely save me money because asuming its instead of ANOTHER Flash book, Ill only be paying $1 more instead of $3 more. Id be down with that for sure! As long as its a good read, Im totally down!

Of course I would much rather have a second book Oh, absolutely! But I expect DC will be very cautious about launching a second Flash book, especially after the series' performance over the last few years, and would probably want to wait at least a year for the post-Rebirth direction to prove itself. Co-features, on the other hand, are something they're launching this summer, in the middle of Flash: Rebirth, and it seems to be an experiment they're really pushing, so this might be something they'd consider doing immediately. Long-term, they did mention that some of the backups, if response is favorable, may spin (back) out into their own books. I have to agree, for the same reason -- and also, because I don't want Geoff Johns to spread himself too thin.

Definitely. I don't think anyone would be surprised if Geoff hit a wall and burned out. I don't want it to happen at all, and especially on Flash, and putting another writer for co-feature would help prevent that.

I think it would be absolutely awesome(though this will probably never happen) if Geoff wrote the main Flash book with Barry but then Mark Waid wrote a backup featuring Wally(hopefully a good one having learned his mistakes in the Wild Wests). That would be amazing! Too bad it won't be happening.

Yeah, that would never happen but it would be great!
Though I will forever defend Waid on Wild Wests. I think he had his back against the wall with those stories. He HAD to incorporate the children into the hero aspect of Wally's life.

If Waid gets to do what he wants, and not what his editors want, then hes great.

As much as a second book would be cool, a "co-feature" would be pretty cool. plus, seeing as books seem to be going to $3.99 anyways, a co-feature book for $3.99 would be great.

It appears that the co-feature will not be in the Flash family perhaps an onslaught of email can convince DC to keep it in the family - especially considering the wealth of Flash family characters we all want to see in action?

I favor DC's approach of quantity over Marvel's approach of quality. If I'm paying an extra $1 or more, I'd rather it be for more content.
Does Jay really need to be in the new title though? He's a permanent fixture in JSA so I could readily see him in guest-spots in the new title.
That leaves Barry, Wally, and Bart. One idea I keep hearing is that the main story focus on Barry & Wally (and whatever their new status quo is) while the co-feature focus on Bart.
Although if they wanted to cover all speedsters at once, why not produce an anthology title like the Spider-Man Family book? You'd get 50+ pages for the higher price and each character would get their own share of the limelight.
