I'm curious how other Flash fans see this...
I have pointed out what I perceive as a number of conflicts in the current depiction of Barry Allen's character here and elsewhere in blogs, forums, and comments. (I'm not talking about the retcon to his history but the decisions and dialogue - like expressing regret for going to the future with Iris to start a family among many others)
While it's been awkward for me to read the revival of my favorite hero so left of center I understand the nature of a rebirth may involve inherently changing the nature of the character. And, it doesn't mean that Rebirth won't be a great story.

As I talked with you about, for better or for worse, this is Barry as protrayed by Wally's run. Id say most current Flash fans picking up Rebirth only know from Wally's run and that is who Geoff is cartering to.

He isn't quite the Barry I remember, but in today's market, most readers know only of Wally so I can see how Johns may tweak Barry's character to appeal to fans of Wally.
I do think he's bang-on about his being protrayed/remembered as a saint. Wally's guilt over trying to live up to his memory should be proof enough of this, but if you ever read the JLA/Avengers mini, there's no question that the general DCU public idolizes their heroes and the Flash is the most blatant example of this attitude/belief with the Twin Cities level of adoration of him and the Flash Museum.
So Johns has some parts of Barry right and mixed on other parts.
