I've heard multiple mentions of Geoff Johns "going back" and reading all of Barry's run before taking on Rebirth. I think that it's great that he pays attention to the continuity and progression of storyline for any project especially given his self-proclaimed challenge of "introducing Barry to a whole new generation" - but if any of you have his ear or have a chance to ask him the following question... Exactly which issues of the silver and bronze age run is he basing the Rebirth style Barry Allen character on?

IF/When I get the chance, I will definitely ask that question.
He's stated(and others too) that he's read every single issue of Barry Allen's run on The Flash, so the retcons don't make much sense to me..but we'll see what happens.

I don't think he really needed to go back and read everything. The purpose of the Rebirth is to redefine the "character engine" to make for a compelling hero and good story telling... you don't need Barry's past to do that. BUT - since he did go there, I'm trying to connect the new Barry to what he took as inspiration.
